Hey there Roamies!

Welcome to my first blog, ever. Well, maybe not ever, but I doubt any of us actually count those secret "diary-esque" ramblings you all tried out on Blogger or Wordpress. I can neither confirm nor deny that I have a particularly angsty one out there with a terrible picture of my nails covered in White-out. But that's all in the past; my attention is focused here.

Where to start with all this? I'm determined not to be one of those people endlessly droning on and on about themselves on the internet, to the silent applause of a dozen anons. I'd like to use this space as a way to document my life, openly and honestly, but more importantly document my deep love and passion for traveling. Something for the kiddos to look back on, you know? (Hey Cavan and Rian!).

My name is Brenna, and I've been to 37 countries in my very short 24 years. A combination of luck, generosity, some privilege, and a whole lot of hard choices have led me to 5 continents, countless friends, shady back alleys, quiet paradises, and crazy nights. In my life, I've served in the US Air Force, played college soccer, developed humanity bonds in Singapore, climbed in the Himalayas, and danced salsa in the waves of the Mediterranean. Right now, I'm finishing two Masters degrees at the University of Oregon and working for an organic tea company. I've done a lot, and seen a lot, and learned there's a heck of a lot more I've never dreamed of.

This site was inspired by a long held dream of mine: to travel to every country in the world. After losing out on the Rhodes scholarship last year, and my last chance to fulfill that goal of studying as a prestigious scholar, I realized that I had the opportunity to throw myself into this dream. I began making plans for a trip around the world: graduating my degrees early and leaving in December of 2019, living out of a backpack, volunteering and working where I could, picking back up my Spanish and learning new languages as well. I had it all worked out. However, if travel has taught me anything, life doesn't go as plan.

I met a guy, and fell in love, and that complicates things. I met a calling, and fell into work, and that complicates things. I still have every intention of fulfilling the name sake of this website: wandering to Rome. However, I've decided to use it as a platform to document all my travels and adventures, not just the grand final one.

It might not be a year long jaunt with my trusty back pack, Beluga, through the jungles of Central America or the plains of Africa (yet). It may not be this wild eye-catching once-in-a-lifetime adventure (yet). But its my life's adventures, the little trips and travels I get to take along the way. And one day, I'd like to end it all in Rome.

But if I just end up roaming... well, it'll have been a full life.
